Conjuring thoughts of blissful wanderlust and the promise of endless summers, Jacquemus is swiftly becoming the last word in feel good fashion. Spontaneous and instinctive, the self-taught designer’s playful and often poetic collections strike a balance between conceptual and straight-up covetable. A fact that was demonstrated beautifully this season, where an effortless interplay of optimism and artistic expression was translated into the ultimate getaway wardrobe — for grownups. Entitled ‘La Bomba’, the lineup flowed together like a beautiful stream of sartorial consciousness coursing through the summer breeze. Graced with a radiant sun-kissed glow, models sashayed down the runway of the Musée Picasso with their tousled hair and undone makeup swathed in sultry sarongs tied at the waist or sassy slipdresses, with tremendous straw sunhats and bohemian headscarves on their heads and the designer’s signature sculptural heels at their feet. You could say it was poetry in motion.
