Intrigued by the power of scent and the potent memories and emotions it evokes, perfumer Ben Gorham realised that he had a nose for fragrance by complete chance when he approached the renowned Swedish perfumer Pierre Wulff. After a few amateur experiments in the kitchen making scented candles, and an introduction to master perfumiers Jerome Epinette and Olivia Giacobetti, Gorham registered the brand name BYREDO (short for the Old English word redolence, meaning 'sweet smelling perfume') and as they say the rest is history. Since 2006, BYREDO has become the go-to fragrance label for all those who subscribe to the minimalist lifestyle, synonymous with luxury and simplicity, BYREDO has cultivated a distinctive aesthetic that encompasses timeless fragrance which awakens all of the sensory faculties, presented in deceptively simple branding and packaging which speaks of elegance, subtlety and modernity, and looks decidedly Instagram-worthy to boot.
