Founded in 1960 by Valentino Garavani and Giancarlo Giammetti, Valentino has been the byword for alta moda and old-school glamour for almost six decades. Valentino's dream to create clothes for women all started at he age of thirteen when he saw the movie Ziegfeld Girls "For me, a young guy of 13, to see this sort of beauty—I think from that moment I decided I wanted to create clothes for ladies.". After honing his skills in the salons of Jean Dessès and Guy Laroche, Valentino, the label, was born. Beautifully refined and ultra-feminine, over the years Valentino became known for his exceptionally constructed couture gowns, sophisticated ready-to-wear, dressing high-society gentlewomen and the A-list walking the red-carpet in a very Valentino shade of red. In 2008, current designer Pierpaolo Piccioli and Maria Grazia Chiuri were appointed Valentino’s Creative Directors bringing a mix of modernity, warmth, and energy that managed to capture the essence of Valentino's overtly sensual and romantic aesthetic, and enhance it with a refreshing contemporary edge. From the mesmerising glamour of the Haute Couture, to ready-to-wear and, of course, the signature Valentino Rockstud accessories, the brand never fails to come up with the goods.
